Mamod MEC1
Bought as part of a Meccano lot along with a Mamod press on a social media site. These are often in poor condition but this one is an exception.
Mamod MM1 (Minor)
I got this one from auction a good while back. As you can see it isn't in the best shape but this is entirely cosmetic and after a good clean and a new set of seals all-round you can see this thing is a wonderfully aged gem.
Mamod MM1 (Minor) No2
It was bought as a job lot along with some Mamod tools and a second Mamod MM1.
Mamod MM1 (Minor) No3
It was bought as a job lot along with some Mamod tools and a second Mamod MM1.
Mamod MM1 (Minor) No4
A nice example. It was bought as part of an auction job lot along with an MM2.
Mamod MM2 (Minor)
I bought this one from the toy fair. It is in all-round good condition. There are some spots where water has stained the lacquer.
Mamod MM2 (Minor) No2
The other Mamod MM2. It is what it is. It was bought at auction along with an MM1.
Mamod SE1
I bought this one from the Yorkshire Traction Engine Rally. It has had somewhat of a restoration though the base is still a little rough. The steam condensate exhaust has been soldered in to the chimney for some weird reason by the previous owner.
Mamod SE1 No2
This one was a deal I couldn't walk past on a popular auction site. It had some tools with it too. It is in great all-round condition cosmetically and mechanically.
Mamod SE1A
This one has some unsavoury blemishes on the boiler that be a serious problem for this engine. They appear to be underneath the lacquer. I am yet to decide what to do with it.
Mamod SE2
This I believe was my second Mamod stationary engine. It's a bit rough but it always steamed well.
Mamod SE2A
This is my absolute favourite Mamod engine and the one that started it all. I was introduced to toy steam by my physics teacher in my school days who brought one of these to class. I had no idea you could get an actual steam engine on such a small scale specifically designed to drive your Meccano creations and I had to have one. This one is a perfect example in my eye. It is a perfect runner with just enough cosmetic wear that I'm not afraid to get it dirty.
Mamod SE3
This one had a thick layer of oil on it that unfortunately ate the paint work. This engine is mechanically sound and is a very good runner.
Mamod SE3 No2
This one was part of an auction job lot. It is boxed and in much better condition than the other SE3 in the collection.
Mamod SP1
My first steam engine. It has been restored and has a replacement chimney.
Mamod SP3
This one was bought at auction. It's almost as new and will be ideal (hopefully) to drive my Meccano fairground ride builds.
Mamod SP4
This one was bought at the toy fair and is pretty much as new. It's a good runner.
Mamod SP5
This one was bought from a popular auction site and is the new style SP5. It looked good on the outside but the sight glass had leaked and as a result serious dezync had set in. Pictures show the damage and before and after the new end cap was fitted. The replacement end cap is an old style level plug end cap made and fitted by a friend of mine and pays homage to old fashioned Mamod engines.
